Which Direction Are You Orientated Toward?

2/21/2022

Being curious and acting on our curiosity is crucial
for any seeker to discover what they are looking for.

We can never discover our true nature by believing what others say – even a trusted teacher. Each one of us has to do our own investigation – there is really no way to get around this.

Seekers don’t believe – they discover.

Discovering our true nature often begins with a sense of that true nature. Stillness, peace, joy, love, wholeness, freedom are all words that try and describe this sense.

The briefest of glimpses of this sense, when we trust it, can be powerful enough to orientate us in its direction.

The sense of our true nature, which is free of all suffering, orientates us in the direction of freedom.  Gradually, we come to distinguish between control and freedom, and the more we choose freedom the greater the orientation becomes in that direction.

We come to see in our own experience that whenever we try to control things  (our thoughts, feelings, experiences, others) we suffer.

And when we allow everything its freedom –
we don’t attach or identify with anything –
we don't suffer at all.

Freedom allows us to sense what is true.

"Dancing" Is What Matters Most

1/10/2022

One of my ‘soul mates’ is long gone from this world
but whenever I come across his words he is most definitely here.

Hafiz, a 14th century Sufi poet, is one of those people
because his heart is one with what matters most and
what matters least doesn’t faze him, for long anyway.

I sometimes forget
that I was created for Joy.

My mind is too busy.
My Heart is too heavy
for me to remember
that I have been
called to dance
the Sacred dance of life.

I was created to smile
To Love
To be lifted up
And to lift others up.

O’ Sacred One
Untangle my feet
from all that ensnares.
Free my soul.
That we might
Dance
and that our dancing
might be contagious.

~ Hafiz

To Dance -
I mean to really dance,
takes a free spirit.

Free from any care about what others think,
and free to move in whatever way feels true now.

But I start here and now...
there is no shame at all in that.

My toes begin to move to the beat of the silence.
I let go and relax into that.

I notice how good that feels
and then, to my surprise, my legs begin to sway ....

Here is a short article on Substack
which explores a bit more of 'what matters most'

Love Is Not Divided

1/3/2022

I'd like to share this wonderful article by Charles Eisenstein
(link below)
which is about Love and Peace, Freedom and Joy
and how we sometimes lose sight of all of that
as we look at others with suspicion and judgment.

Those unvaccinated sometimes look with judgment
toward those who are vaccinated
and those who are vaccinated sometimes
look with judgment toward those who are unvaccinated.

The other day as I was thinking about all of this this is what came to me, "How I live is more important than that I live."
Divide, Conquer; Unite, Heal

Two Directions - Freedom or Control

12/6/2021

After my first conscious glimpse of Wholeness there was a lot of back and forth between clarity and confusion, peace and fear – but gradually after an extensive and intense one pointed investigation stability took hold and this is some of what I found:

When I try and control my experience – my thoughts, feelings, other people  - confusion and fear take hold.

And when I allow everything in my experience its freedom (without identifying with it) – clarity and peace are revealed.

And then much more recently this is some more of what I found:

When I’m in the midst of others controlling behavior and I don’t stand aligned with freedom, confusion and fear take hold.

And when I’m in the midst of others controlling behavior and I do stand aligned with freedom, clarity and love reveal themselves

****************

When we’re pointed in the direction of Freedom
we’re aligned with the very nature of Life Itself.

The understanding and honoring of Freedom
sets us free, opens our Hearts,
and fills us with the courage needed to live as we are meant to live.

And when we’re pointed in the direction of control
all of that clogs up and shuts down and turns to dust.
Picture

With each breath we can be aware
of whether we are aligned with Freedom
or attached to control.

Sense the difference between the two -
one feels like Life
and the other like death.

can be used to even make sense of what's going

Beyond What "Everybody Knows"

11/16/2021

From childhood on, we’re programmed to believe everything that we’re not –that we’re lacking and separate not only from each other but from the Divine.

It seems so true because, after all -  “everybody knows” lack and separation are real and fear is valid.

Being open to question what “everybody knows” is foundational to the discovery of truth and the enjoyment of freedom.

What “everybody knows” is based on information we accumulate through
identification with thought while the ‘information’ of the Heart is ignored.

Awakening is about being curious enough to question what “everybody knows” –  remaining open to all ‘information’ of the Heart even when it seems to conflict with what the masses around us adamantly say is true.
Picture
Freedom from what “everybody knows”
opens when we’re curious enough to
consider the ‘information’ of the Heart.

This Heart ‘information’ is always in the moment
and it always follows our lead.

If we remain closed the Heart honors that fully.
It doesn’t impose Itself in any way.
It honors our freedom to choose.
It waits for our invitation making our choice clear.

Openness and curiosity is our invitation
to the Heart saying,

“I choose You.
Show me the way beyond what “everybody knows."

For those interested, I've posted another free article on Substack
which takes these principles of openness and curiosity and applies
them to the information that we're getting out there in the world.

How Can Acceptance and Taking A Stand Go Together?

11/8/2021

Someone recently asked me about the seeming contradiction between acceptance and taking a stand in the world – after all, if we accept everything, why would we need to take a stand against anything?

So I’d like to share very briefly my understanding of 'acceptance' and 'taking a stand'.
Acceptance has many layers to it – and some are steeped in confusion.

Accepting the story of what is happening and the story of who we are is confusion, not true acceptance.

True acceptance is acceptance of what actually is - who we all actually are.
'Standing for Truth' is different than 'standing against what’s happening'.

Standing for Truth is a stand for what is - for what we truly are.
Love, Freedom, Truth, Beauty, Joy, Oneness.
When we’re in fear we try to control things and other people.
This is because we’ve forgotten who we are.

But also when we’re in fear it’s very easy for us to allow others to control and manipulate us.  This is because we’ve forgotten who we are.

When people try to control or manipulate us and we don’t stand in the truth of who we are, we are not only denying the truth of who we are – we are denying the truth of who they are.

We are not in acceptance of the truth of our Being.
We are accepting the story of who we (and they) are – we are accepting a lie.

This happens so often between family members, friends, and between governments and its citizens.

When faced with attempts to control or manipulate,
taking a stand as Truth is the most loving and honest stand we can take.

To give into control is to give into a lie.
Picture
Love and wisdom never go along with a lie.

Love says to those who believe the lie,
"I see you want to control me.
And I know it's because you don't know.
So here I stand
unmoving
as the Freedom
that I know we all are.

This gift I give to you -
the gift to see your own Freedom
reflected in this very stand for my Freedom."

We Can't Know Until We Know

10/26/2021

How can we know our true nature?

How can we know if what we are is lacking and separate or whole and one?

How can we actually, honestly, directly know?

Many people have had glimpses of peace and wholeness
and some even have a deep, direct sense of this truth -

but then what about those thoughts and feelings that seem to conflict
with the sensing of wholeness?

Should those thoughts and feelings that conflict be dismissed as ‘misinformation’?
Should we censor them and push them away as untrue?

Or should we investigate to make sure?

If we have a deep sense that wholeness is our reality and then the thought
“I am worthless” or “He/She shouldn’t have said or done that” comes and
our sense of Wholeness seems lost – would it be more helpful to dismiss
that conflicting information or to investigate further?

Inquiry is honest and open to all information.

We can’t know until we know.

And to know we must directly investigate again and again until we are honestly convinced.
Picture
 The Heart of Truth seekers
is Love.

Everything is brought closer.

Those who seek Truth
are not afraid to look.

Love casts out all fear.

Is the understanding of open investigation
separate from science and politics -
or does this understanding relate to all areas of life?

If interested, here is an article I recently wrote
which shares how this understanding of open,
honest investigation can help even in the area
of politics.

It is all very simple. Instead of seeing things imagined, learn to see them as they are. When you can see everything as it is, you will also see yourself as you are. It is like cleansing a mirror. The same mirror that shows you the world as it is, will also show you your own face."
