Without Honesty Our Old Patterns Repeat Ad Nauseam

12/14/2020

Someone recently asked me what I see as the most important quality to have along the spiritual path and I said honesty – with ourself.

Honesty paves the way toward openness and curiosity and dishonesty closes us down and shuts us off from our natural spirit of inquisitiveness.

Especially for those who have been on the path for years and know all the spiritual concepts it’s so easy to get caught up in believing those concepts without really knowing the truth they are pointing to. And this is where honesty comes in.

Whenever we’re suffering it’s so helpful to be honest about that suffering.

If we suffer and then tell ourself or others that  “Suffering is an illusion. There is no one here that is suffering. I know I am whole already.” then we’re relying on our beliefs and we’re closed to discovering the truth. We’re not curious about finding out what is actually true because we believe we know what is true.

And if we suffer and are honest about that suffering this honesty paves the way toward openness and curiosity to discover what is actually true -
and then questions may begin to arise naturally.

Questions like “What is actually true?”…"What is my true nature?"...“What am I really?”… “Is it true that I need him/her to stop doing that in order to know peace?”… “Is peace here now?”… ”Am I lacking anything?”…”What actually is creating the sense of lack?”… ”If wholeness is true then why don’t I always sense that?”… ”Is it that wholeness is gone or that the sense of wholeness is only veiled?”… ”What is actually creating the veiling?”…

Honesty, every step of the way, is foundational.

The Simultaneity of Our Being and Our Human Expression

If we believe we are evolving to become something we are not now life will continue to feel frustrating and confusing. And when we know the ever present wholeness of our true essence all evolution is enjoyed.

We know our wholeness yet we enjoy the ever evolving expansion of this amazing human experience.

Knowing our non-evolving Being does not cancel out the evolution of our human expression as it more fully relaxes and expands.

A Heart Sharing About My Book -                                                          Honesty and Courage Are Key

Although my book, The Human Experience, is not an autobiography I do share snippets of my own journey within the first chapter and then here and there throughout.

Because even though our journeys differ at the superficial level, at a deeper level they are really all the same.

What we are all looking for as well as what keeps us stuck and what opens us up are the same regardless of any surface differences within our paths. So, rather than only ‘tell’ this book also ‘shows’ those common threads within everyone’s journey through the inclusion of every day examples....

'Only human' or 'Fully Human'?

8/10/2016

What if the collective evolutionary leap of humans evolving from a crouching position to one that is upright is a kind of physical representation of what is coming collectively at a more inner, subtle level?

Because although humans now physically stand upright - inwardly, we often still crouch and cower. We still carry the feeling that we are ‘only human’ – incomplete, weak, mortal, separate. We don’t know – and stand – in our true power.

But now, with more and more of us, the concept of ‘being human’ is beginning to carry the true sense of wholeness and universality rather than brokenness – which may just be an indication that we are collectively on our way to making another major evolutionary leap.

The True Power of the Individual is Not Personal

Why are we so convinced that ‘individual’ means ‘separate’?

Just as the sun’s rays are individual we don’t consider them separate from the sun – or even, at a fundamental level, from each other.

Although the optical illusion of separation at the level of the senses seems so real – there is something within us that senses there is more than meets the eye.

Trusting this inner knowing and sensing is key.

Individual Empowerment is Not Personal - or Separate

7/27/2016

When we realize our universality we come to see that individual empowerment is not personal. It is about coming to actually live what we have realized.

As the spiritual teacher Adyashanti has said, "Awakening is about realizing our nobodyness, our everythingness and our somebodyness."

When we know our essence and we more fully embrace the non-separate nature of our somebodyness, we more fully relax and express our nobodyness and our everythingness  ... and vice a versa.

When we know our essence - no matter which way we come at it, it all works together perfectly.

It is all very simple. Instead of seeing things imagined, learn to see them as they are. When you can see everything as it is, you will also see yourself as you are. It is like cleansing a mirror. The same mirror that shows you the world as it is, will also show you your own face."
      Sri Nisargadatta     Maharaj

      Einstein said,
    "No problem can be solved
      from the same
       level of consciousness
           that created it."

    To see new solutions
       we must see differently.
